What this is for

The money that lands in your account is never the price on the listing. A ₹1,499 order can settle at ₹1,100, and if eight in a hundred come back it is worth less than that again — because the returns are paid for out of the orders that stayed sold.

Returns are the part most sellers under-count. A parcel that goes out and comes back has cost you freight in both directions and a packing bag, and if it arrives back marked or soiled it has cost you the piece as well. Spread over every order you shipped, that is often the difference between a margin that works and one that does not.

You type in your own rates. We do not fill in a commission percentage for any marketplace, because those differ by category, change without much notice, and are worth reading off your own settlement statement. The same goes for courier charges — use your own rate card or your last month’s bills.

If the order value you entered includes GST, remember the profit shown still has that tax sitting inside it; the GST calculator will separate the two.
